We are all in a fluid state of being. We have to move and adapt to changing circumstances, including those the pandemic has brought about. Keeping an open mind to change is essential for our emotional wellbeing. Likewise, a fluid state of mind is necessary for Rahim as she explores themes and techniques that flow through her series of works. The exhibition Fluid State reveals her latest body of work. ‘I make rhythmic sense of my sometimes chaotic and visually stimulating environment and life. Textures and shapes found in the city, peeling paint on an old door, the colors of the ocean, patterns on rugged rocks, satellite images of the earth and microscopic anatomy are typical of my inspirations. Application and subtraction of layers of paint where these elements flicker in and out of visibility, build up with time, movement, music and emotion and settle down into my own visual narrative.’ A version of reality results, stimulating the viewer’s imagination and allowing for their participation in the creative process.
