Bio:

Eleanor Rahim was born in London. Always drawing and painting as a child, she eventually went on to obtain a Foundation Course in Art and Design and a BA (Hons) Graphic Design.

After traveling extensively in Europe for three months and then for a year backpacking around the globe, Eleanor started her art and design licensing business in London and continues with her career in New York City, having relocated in 2007. She joined The Art Students League of New York and received a commendation in her first group show. Her painting was selected to participate in the ASL’s annual prestigious ‘Red Dot Show’. In a short time, Eleanor has gained a number of collectors.

She has the privilege to study with abstract painter Ronnie Landfield at the League and John DeMartin at the Grand Central Academy of Art.

Statement:

I am intently aware of my surroundings. I am in awe of all things natural from the intricate detail on a seashell or within a piece of marble, to the amazing satellite images of the earth and Hubble photos of the Universe.

Within my paintings I strive to capture the visible beauty, color, movement, light and pattern as well as the essence, energy, rhythm and silent forces of nature. I try to express a reflective moment, to evoke a positive feeling and a sense of peace in what can be a troubled world both socially and politically.

Invisible forces are at play when my subconscious guides my work, and painting becomes an abstract reaction to what I have observed and felt from nature. I am taken on a journey by my painting and do not quite know where it will lead. It is the hidden phenomenon of human instinct and the accumulation of knowledge and feelings subconsciously guiding my decisions.
